Padiham, Lowerhouse and Gawthorpe

On this circular walk you will pass by parkland, playing fields and allotments. Walk along the towpath of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal past Hapton Marina and then on to Lowerhouse Lodges - a popular spot for local fisherman.
The walk then continues past the old High School and through Habergham churchyard and the woods leading towards Gawthorpe Hall. You are then on your way back to Padiham Town Hall following the river Calder.
A variety of bird life may be seen along the way including swans, mallard, grebe and smaller birds of prey as well as several species of mammals including squirrels, foxes or even Roe deer.
This walk is suitable for walkers with a moderate level of fitness, please be aware of the conditions and wear clothing suitable for the weather and bring plenty of fluids to drink.
Gerald Thompson is an experienced walker who leads walks for health around the local area.
