Rourke's Forge

A trip to Rourke’s Forge starts in the visitor centre where you can enjoy a cup of tea and find out about the history of the business from its small beginnings to the successful company it is today. Going through to the demonstration forge the blacksmith can then be found creating candlesticks, letter openers or delicate swans from the fiery metal as it comes out of the furnace to be beaten into shape using just hammer and anvil.

The company has produced some of the best and most famous pieces of wrought ironwork in the country including the Paisley Gates at Liverpool Football Club and their work is sold all round the world from Japan to Australia. In the gift shop visitors can see how red hot iron has been turned into beautiful pieces of work from intricate garden gates festooned with roses or vines to spiral staircases, arches and exclusive pieces of furniture all available for your home or garden.

Tours are available by appointment and on special openings throughout the year. Please ring for details.
